The 2026 NRL footy season kicks off on the March 1st in Las Vegas. Christine and Paul again invite you to The Grumpy Granny Footy Tipping Competition.

It’s open to all of Christine’s children (and their partners) and grandchildren and, since Paul doesn’t have any kids, a handful of people he invites. You’re welcome to provide the competition details to other people you’d like to compete against, however, they’ll be FunTipsters and will not have any bearing on prizes or positions.

The Grumpy Granny Tipping Comp is hosted on itipfooty.com.au. You’ll need a profile if you don’t already have one, to join Comp# 113040 with password NorrieSt58.

The 2026 Comp is divided into a free competition and a paid competition. The free comp is funded by our 10c container refunds without any contributions from players. Eligible players are welcome to participate in the free comp without any obligation or requirement to participate in the paid comp.

Prizes will be distributed (and, if necessary, drawn) at a BBQ at 58 Norrie St on November 1st commencing after the Jacaranda Festival float parade. If you can't be there, we'll arrange to get any prizes you've won to you some other way. You’re still more than welcome to come to our place on Grand Final Day to hang out, have fun and watch the game. We just won’t be handing out prizes.

Some rules from last year have been changed and some new rules and comps have been added.

GENERAL RULES AND PRIZES

Tipping for each ROUND locks 5 minutes before scheduled kick-off of the first game. Tips can not be changed or submitted online after the round is locked.
If a tipster fails to tip before a round is locked, they can still tip for the remaining games by sending an email to one of the comp admin. Tips will be accepted for any game that commences after the time stamp on the received email. You can not change submitted tips by emailing a comp admin.
During the regular season rounds, each correct tip earns 2 points with a bonus 2 points for tipping a perfect round. The perfect round bonus applies on all regular season rounds (including bye rounds) but does not apply to finals.
During the finals, each correct tip earns 3 points.
No points are awarded for incorrect tips or games where no tip is submitted.
Each round also has one nominated game (usually the first game of the round) where, in addition to tipping the winner, players must predict what they think will be the winning margin for that game.
Every player has a Joker that can be played once only during the tipping comp in any regular season round. Points (including any perfect round bonus) will be doubled for the round in which a tipster plays their Joker.
Tips will be visible to all players up to Round 22. After Round 22 they’ll be hidden until Grand Final Day.
State Of Origin games are not part of the Comp.

FREE TIPPING COMP RULES AND PRIZES

There are $500** worth of prizes available in the free competition.
LEADER BOARD PRIZES: The Leader Board prizes are awarded to the tipsters with the most tipping points during the entire season including finals. 1st: $100; 2nd: $75; and 3rd: $50. In the event of a tie, the tipster with a LOWER overall Margin score will win.
OVERALL MARGIN PRIZES: The overall Margin prizes are awarded to the tipsters who score the lowest cumulative margin score for the entire season including finals. 1st: $100; 2nd: $75; and 3rd: $50. In the event of a tie, the tipster with a HIGHER Leader Board score will win.
SURPRISE PRIZE: On Grand Final Day, there will be a draw for a random Leader Board position (between 4th place and last place) e.g.16th place. Whoever is in that position on the itipfooty Leader Board AFTER the Grand Final will win the Surprise Prize. The Surprise Prize is worth $50 LESS $1 for each game that the winning tipster did not enter a tip during the competition. The Surprise Prize has replaced the Wooden Spoon prize and is intended to encourage participation. Players can freely choose to not tip to try and finish last, however it will reduce the Surprise Prize if they win it.

** PLEASE NOTE: Because the free comp is NOT a 'pay-to-enter' comp the prizes shown here are not guaranteed. If there are insufficient funds available from our container refunds the prizes for the free comp may be subject to change without notice.

PAID TIPPING COMP RULES AND PRIZES

The entry fee for the paid competition is $15.
The entry fees partially fund the Round Prize, the Margin Prize and the Knock-Out Competition.
There are $810 worth of prizes available in the paid competition. The comp administrators will top up any shortfall from their 10c container refunds.
The entry fee can be paid at any time during the season. However, a tipster is only eligible to win prizes that begin accumulating AFTER they have paid the entry fee.
EXAMPLE: Sally doesn't pay her entry fee before Round 1 commences. She decides to pay during Round 5. After nine rounds the Round Prize has jackpotted to $100. Sally tips the only perfect round in Round 10. Sally does not win the $100 because she did not enter the paid competition BEFORE the Round Prize began accumulating and it jackpots again to $110. Sally then goes on to tip a perfect round in Round 11. Rebecca, who paid her entry fee before Round 1 commenced, also tips a perfect round in Round 11. Sally is still not eligible to win the Round Prize. Rebecca is the only ELIGIBLE tipster to tip a perfect round so she wins the $110 Round Prize. Sally is now eligible to win any Round Prize that begins accumulating from Round 12 onwards.
All references to 'tipster' or 'player' in this section should be inferred as 'eligible tipster' and 'eligible player'. An eligible tipster or player is one who has paid his or her entry fee in time to be eligible to win the relevant prize.
ROUND PRIZE AND JACKPOT: Every regular season round has a $10 prize available. You win the Round Prize by being the only tipster to tip a perfect round. If nobody, or more than one tipster, tips a perfect round, the Round Prize jackpots to the next round. Each time the Round Prize is won, it resets to $10 again for the next round. If the Round Prize is not won in Round 27, the Round 27 jackpot (whatever it may be) will be awarded by random draw.
MARGIN PRIZE AND JACKPOT: Every regular season round has a $10 prize available. You win the Margin Prize by being the only tipster to correctly predict the winning margin on the nominated game. If nobody, or more than one tipster, correctly predicts the winning margin, the Margin Prize jackpots to the next round. Each time the Margin Prize is won, it resets to $10 again for the next game.
KNOCK-OUT COMPETITION AND JACKPOT: Every regular season round has a $10 prize available. The Knock-Out Prize starts at $10 and jackpots by $10 each round where it isn’t won. Each round, until you are knocked out, you must pick a team that you think will win in that round. If the team you pick wins, you keep playing; if the team you pick loses, you’re knocked out. So, if you’re the last player standing after five rounds you win $50; if you’re the last player standing after eleven rounds you win $110. Once the Knock-Out Prize is won, all players get reinstated, and the Knock-Out Comp starts again at $10. ***Please see the additional Knock-Out Comp rules below about being the 'last player standing'.

ADDITIONAL MARGIN COMP RULES

The Margin Comp continues all the way to the Grand Final, but the Margin Prize, if not already won, stops jackpotting at the end of the regular season rounds.
If you do not enter a tip for the nominated Margin Prize game, your tip for the nominated game will be modified by comp admin to tip the losing team with a margin tip that scores the same as the worst margin score for that round. NB All players will get an automatic itipfooty email about changes that are made.

ADDITIONAL KNOCK-OUT COMP RULES

Competition tipsters who have not paid their entry fee will be automatically knocked out in the first round of each Knock-Out comp.
You can not select the same Knock-Out team in consecutive weeks.
If all of the remaining players in any round pick losing teams the Knock-Out Prize for that round will be shared between them, and the Knock-Out Comp will restart at $10 with all players re-instated.
If all of the remaining players in any round pick THE SAME winning team, the Knock-Out Prize for that round will be shared between them, and the Knock-Out Comp will restart at $10 with all players re-instated.
If the Knock-Out Comp gets down to two players, there will only be a single round to determine the winner. If both players pick winning teams the Knock-Out Prize will be shared between them, and the Knock-Out Comp will restart at $10 with all players re-instated.
Any player who is ‘knocked out’ by the itipfooty platform due to a draw will be re-instated by Comp Admin. This means there may be occasions where the Knock-Out Comp continues when itipfooty says it has ended.
